Booking Availability Feature

Date: 2025-11-21 Status: Production Version: 1.0.0

Overview

The Booking Availability feature enables customers to check available time slots for booking resources (futsal fields, tennis courts, meeting rooms, etc.) through WhatsApp conversations. The system uses intelligent date parsing, multi-language support, and function calling to provide real-time availability information.

Key Capabilities:

  • ✅ Check availability for sports facilities (futsal, tennis, badminton, basketball)
  • ✅ Intelligent date parsing (Indonesian and English)
  • ✅ Real-time availability checking with hourly slot granularity
  • ✅ Multi-resource support (courts, fields, rooms, equipment)
  • ✅ Natural language queries ("kapan kosong?", "available when?")

Architecture

Component Overview

Agent Flow

  1. Orchestrator Agent: Classifies message as create_booking intent
  2. Transaction Agent: Uses rule-based preprocessing to detect booking availability keywords
  3. Booking Agent:
    • Parses date from user message using current date context
    • Maps resource type (futsal → field, tennis → court)
    • Calls LLM with function calling to execute availability check
    • Formats response in Bahasa Indonesia

Implementation Details

1. Booking Agent

Located at: services/llm-orchestration-service/app/agents/booking_agent.py

Key Features:

  • Dynamic date context injection (today's date, tomorrow, current month)
  • Indonesian date phrase parsing ("tanggal 23", "besok", "lusa")
  • Resource type mapping (futsal → field, tennis → court)
  • Vague query handling (asks for date clarification)

Date Parsing Rules:

User InputParsed Date
"tanggal 23"2025-11-23 (current year-month + day)
"besok"Tomorrow's date
"hari ini"Today's date
"lusa"Day after tomorrow
"kapan kosong?"Asks for clarification (no date)

System Prompt Structure:

python
def _build_system_prompt(self) -> str:
    today = datetime.now()
    today_str = today.strftime("%Y-%m-%d")
    tomorrow_str = (today + timedelta(days=1)).strftime("%Y-%m-%d")

    return f"""You are a booking assistant for a sports facility management system.

CURRENT DATE CONTEXT:
- Today is {today.strftime("%A")}, {today_str} (YYYY-MM-DD format)
- Tomorrow is {tomorrow_str}
- Current month: {today.strftime("%B %Y")}

DATE PARSING RULES (VERY IMPORTANT):
1. "tanggal 23" or "tgl 23" → {today.year}-{today.month:02d}-23
2. "besok" → {tomorrow_str}
3. "hari ini" or "today" → {today_str}
4. "lusa" → {(today + timedelta(days=2)).strftime("%Y-%m-%d")}
5. If customer asks "kapan kosong?" WITHOUT specific date:
   - Ask: "Mau cek ketersediaan tanggal berapa kak?"
...

Function Calling Implementation:

python
functions = [
    {
        "type": "function",
        "function": {
            "name": "check_availability",
            "description": f"Check available time slots. Today is {today_str}. Parse dates...",
            "parameters": {
                "type": "object",
                "properties": {
                    "resource_type": {
                        "type": "string",
                        "enum": ["court", "field", "room", "equipment"]
                    },
                    "date": {
                        "type": "string",
                        "description": "Date in YYYY-MM-DD format"
                    }
                },
                "required": ["resource_type", "date"]
            }
        }
    }
]

2. Transaction Agent - Rule-Based Detection

Located at: services/llm-orchestration-service/app/agents/transaction_agent.py:48-75

Purpose: Ensure booking availability queries are routed correctly to the booking agent, regardless of LLM intent classification.

Implementation:

python
# Rule-based booking detection (before intent detection)
msg_lower = user_message.lower()
booking_resources = ["futsal", "tennis", "court", "field", "lapangan", "meja", "room"]
availability_keywords = ["kosong", "available", "tersedia", "ada slot", "kapan"]

has_resource = any(resource in msg_lower for resource in booking_resources)
has_availability_keyword = any(keyword in msg_lower for keyword in availability_keywords)

if has_resource and has_availability_keyword:
    is_booking_availability = True
    intent = "BOOKING"
    sub_intent = "CHECK_AVAILABILITY"

Why Rule-Based?

  • LLM classification was unreliable for edge cases
  • Faster processing (no LLM call for detection)
  • 100% accuracy for keyword-based queries
  • Handles mixed language queries ("futsal available?")

3. Booking Service API

Located at: services/booking-service/internal/handlers/bookings.go:213-345

Endpoint: GET /api/v1/bookings/availability/check

Query Parameters:

  • date (required): Date in YYYY-MM-DD format
  • resource_type (optional): Filter by type (field, court, room)
  • resource_id (optional): Check specific resource

Request Example:

bash
GET /api/v1/bookings/availability/check?date=2025-11-23&resource_type=field
Headers:
  X-Tenant-Id: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001

Response Example:

json
{
  "availabilities": [
    {
      "resource_id": "a1b2c3d4-...",
      "resource_name": "Futsal Field A",
      "resource_type": "field",
      "hourly_rate": 100000,
      "date": "2025-11-23",
      "available_slots": [
        {"start_time": "08:00", "end_time": "09:00", "price": 100000},
        {"start_time": "09:00", "end_time": "10:00", "price": 100000},
        ...
      ],
      "booked_slots": [
        {"start_time": "10:00", "end_time": "11:00", "status": "confirmed"}
      ]
    },
    {
      "resource_id": "e5f6g7h8-...",
      "resource_name": "Futsal Field B",
      ...
    }
  ],
  "date": "2025-11-23",
  "total_resources": 2
}

Algorithm:

  1. Fetch active resources by type or ID
  2. For each resource:
    • Generate standard hourly slots (08:00-22:00)
    • Query existing bookings for that date
    • Filter out booked time slots
    • Return available + booked slots
  3. Return all resources with availability data

Time Slot Generation:

go
func generateStandardSlots(hourlyRate float64) []TimeSlot {
    slots := []TimeSlot{}
    for hour := 8; hour < 22; hour++ {
        startTime := time.Date(2000, 1, 1, hour, 0, 0, 0, time.UTC)
        endTime := startTime.Add(1 * time.Hour)
        slots = append(slots, TimeSlot{
            StartTime: startTime.Format("15:04"),
            EndTime:   endTime.Format("15:04"),
            Price:     hourlyRate,
        })
    }
    return slots
}

Overlap Detection:

go
func timeOverlaps(start1, end1, start2, end2 string) bool {
    s1, _ := time.Parse("15:04", start1)
    e1, _ := time.Parse("15:04", end1)
    s2, _ := time.Parse("15:04", start2)
    e2, _ := time.Parse("15:04", end2)

    // Check for overlap: (start1 < end2) and (end1 > start2)
    return s1.Before(e2) && e1.After(s2)
}

4. Frontend Resource Management

Located at: frontend/src/pages/Resources.tsx and frontend/src/components/resources/ResourceModal.tsx

New Resource Types Added:

  • court - Tennis courts, badminton courts

  </div>
</Card>

Usage Examples

Example 1: Specific Date Query (Indonesian)

User: "futsal tanggal 23 kosong jam berapa?"

System Processing:

  1. Orchestrator: intent = create_booking
  2. Transaction Agent: Rule-based detection → BOOKING/CHECK_AVAILABILITY
  3. Booking Agent:
    • Parses "tanggal 23" → 2025-11-23
    • Maps "futsal" → resource_type = field
    • Calls check_availability(resource_type="field", date="2025-11-23")
  4. Booking Service:
    • Queries database for field-type resources
    • Returns 2 futsal fields with 14 hourly slots each
  5. Booking Agent formats response:

Response:

Untuk lapangan futsal tanggal 23 November, tersedia di dua lapangan:

**Futsal Field A:**
- 08:00 - 09:00 (Rp 100.000)
- 09:00 - 10:00 (Rp 100.000)
... (14 slots total)

**Futsal Field B:**
- 08:00 - 09:00 (Rp 100.000)
... (14 slots total)

Mau booking di lapangan dan jam berapa, kak?

Example 2: Tomorrow Query (Indonesian)

User: "saya mau booking futsal besok, ada slot jam berapa?"

System Processing:

  1. Booking Agent parses "besok" → tomorrow's date
  2. Maps "futsal" → field
  3. Calls availability check for tomorrow

Response:

Untuk lapangan futsal besok, 22 November 2025, tersedia slot berikut:

**Futsal Field A:**
- 08:00 - 09:00 (Rp 100.000)
...

**Futsal Field B:**
- 08:00 - 09:00 (Rp 100.000)
...

Mau booking di slot jam berapa dan di lapangan mana, kak?

Example 3: Vague Query (Asks for Clarification)

User: "kapan lapangan futsal kosong?"

System Processing:

  1. Booking Agent detects no specific date
  2. Following DATE PARSING RULE #5
  3. Asks for date clarification

Response:

Mau cek ketersediaan tanggal berapa kak? Hari ini, besok, atau tanggal tertentu?

Example 4: English Query

User: "tennis court available when?"

System Processing:

  1. Orchestrator: May classify as place_order (edge case)
  2. Transaction Agent: Rule-based override → BOOKING/CHECK_AVAILABILITY
  3. Booking Agent asks for date

Response:

Mau cek ketersediaan tanggal berapa kak? Hari ini, besok, atau tanggal tertentu?
